LAHORE:Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari said that negligence and lapses within Directorate General Public Relations (DGPR) would not be tolerated. She directed the relevant officers to ensure 100% attendance of DGPR employees. Employees, who cannot adhere to punctuality, should remain at home. She issued these directions during her visit to DGPR on Thursday.
The minister emphasised that DGPR is the sole channel for providing timely and accurate information from the Punjab government to the general public, and it must operate according to contemporary standards.
She also congratulated Dr Shahanshah Faisal Azim on his appointment as new DGPR Punjab. She directed him to modernise and energise digital media functions. The minister acknowledged the dedication of officers who have worked to enhance cleanliness standards and administrative efficiency. As per her recent orders, explanations were sought from employees who were either absent or arrived late to the office. Within a week of the minister's intervention, notices were issued to 72 DGPR employees regarding their tardiness. All the absent employees have been directed to provide an explanation within three days.
Azma commended the relevant sections for their efforts to improve the DGPR. She also lauded the electronic and print media sections for their prompt dispatch of news about government programmes to media houses and expressed satisfaction over the performance of monitoring section.
