Youth Affairs Dept holds I-Day speech contest

LAHORE:Punjab Youth Affairs Department organised an exciting speech competition at SBP E-Library in connection with 77th Independence Day of the country on Thursday.

Hundreds of students from different schools and colleges participated in the contest with keen interest. Director Youth Affairs Rana Nadeem Anjum distributed prizes among the top position holders. Deputy Director Ata ur Rehman, Ammar Afzal and Librarian Shazia Saqlain were also present on this occasion.

All the speakers highlighted multiple aspects and challenges of freedom movement in their comprehensive speeches. They also discussed various modern day challenges and urged the youth of the country to play an effective role for the development of the beloved country.

In Independence Day Urdu school speech competition, M Hassamul Qayyum, Arbab Sakeena and Eshal Maqsood clinched the top three positions while Syeda Haniya Rizwi, Syed M Taqi Zaidi and Tasmia Kashaf were the top three position holders in English school speech contest.

M Tayyab Yar was adjudged triumphant of the Urdu college speech contest while the next two positions were taken by Syed Ali Hassan Jaffery and Subhan Anjum Khan respectively. In the English college speech competition, Ali Rasheed, Hadiya Noor and Mehkash Gillani impressed the audience and the jury members with their brilliant speeches and grabbed the top three positions respectively.

The jury of speech competition was consisted of experts such as M Haris Ashfaq, Nabiha, Abdul Rehman, Aqsa Javed and Syed Kamal. The jury members heard all the speeches attentively and decided the position holders purely on merit. The top three position holders in all four categories of speech competition were awarded cash prizes of Rs10,000, Rs7,500 and Rs5,000 respectively.
