RAWALPINDI: The Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) under the instructions of the Ministry for Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) has summoned the officials of the Pakistan Football Federation’s (PFF) Normalisation Committee (NC) over what it called an unacceptable decision to impose life bans on some leading officials.
A well-informed source in the PSB told ‘The News’ that news of the came as a surprise for the government. “We have many options available to us but first it is very important to take up the issue with the NC officials. We have called their legal advisor to make the officials available for a meeting.”
The official added that no one, who has the genuine right to contest the elections, should be barred from the right to contest elections. “No federation can do that. You cannot deprive anyone of contesting elections. Some officials were not even party to any controversy. The NC will have to come up with a genuine answer.”
When asked what action the PSB could take if the NC members fail to turn up for the meeting, he said there are many but the first step is to ask them to appear before the officials of ministry and PSB.
