ISLAMABAD: Bangladesh Parliamentarian and former cricket captain Shakib Al Hasan heads for England after successfully seeking a UK visa while staying in Islamabad.
Well-informed sources confirmed to The News that Shakib did not travel back with the team to Bangladesh and is now heading for UK to play county cricket after successfully getting a British visa while staying in Islamabad.
“Shakib has been granted a UK Visa in Islamabad as he has decided not to accompany the victorious team back home. He will be engaged in county cricket till the time Bangladesh team lands in India to play the two-match Test series,” a source close to the Bangladesh team said. Shakib is facing charges of murder along with 60 others named in an FIR registered in Dhaka following riots in Bangladesh. He said that efforts are on to have his name removed from the FIR as Shakib has no direct link with the shooting incidents.
