US Consul General Scott Urbom paid tribute to the founder of Pakistan, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, during a visit to his mausoleum in Karachi.
Consul General Urbom laid a floral wreath at the mausoleum and signed the guestbook on behalf of the people of the United States, said a press release issued on Wednesday.
“It is a great honour to be here at the Mazar-e-Quaid to pay my respects and commemorate the legacy of Muhammad Ali Jinnah,” said Consul General Urbom. “My visit today reaffirms the importance of the strong and enduring relationship between the United States and Pakistan. I am also reminded of Jinnah’s vision of a unified, democratic Pakistan, one in which equality, social justice, and economic opportunity prevail—values both our nations hold dear and continue to pursue through our many areas of cooperation.”
Following the wreath-laying ceremony, Consul General Urbom visited the tombs of Liaquat Ali Khan, Pakistan’s first prime minister, and Fatima Jinnah, the sister of the Quaid-e-Azam. He then toured the adjoining museum to gain a deeper understanding of Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s life and view artifacts connected to his legacy.
“I am here to reinforce the US government’s commitment to further strengthening our economic ties, exploring ways to broaden our bilateral trade, boost investment, and create the conditions for greater and more inclusive entrepreneurship and educational opportunities,” remarked Consul General Urbom.
