karachi: The Sindh government intends to spend a massive amount of Rs2 billion to purchase luxury double-cabin 4x4 vehicles for 138 assistant commissioners (ACs) posted across the province.
The general administration department has written to the finance department, requesting the release of Rs2 billion for purchasing the expensive vehicles for the ACs.
The letter mentioned that the request was being made after getting the chief minister’s approval. Each vehicle will cost over Rs10 million.
‘Royal decrees’
Commenting on the move, PTI Sindh President and former provincial assembly opposition leader Haleem Adil Sheikh said that hundreds of families have become shelterless due to the recent heavy monsoon rains in Sindh.
Sheikh said that standing crops in Sindh have also been ruined due to farmlands being inundated with rainwater. He said the Sindh government has been busy issuing royal decrees instead of helping the people in distress.
“Is it necessary for the Sindh government to spend Rs2 billion to purchase the double-cabin vehicles for 138 assistant commissioners, or should it be assisting the rain-hit people in Sindh?”
