LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz launched two mega development projects in the provincial capital on Wednesday. The projects are Controlled Access Corridor Closed Road Package-II and Ravi Bridge Expansion Projects, besides re-modeling of Babu Sabu Interchange on the main entrance and exit of Controlled Access Corridor Project.
She directed authorities to further expand service lanes along the project for the convenience of surrounding localities.
Chief Engineer LDA Asrar Seed told her that the construction of “Niazi Interchange to Saggian” and “Saggian to Babu Sabu Interchange” project had been completed. The service roads’ lanes have been opened on both sides of the 7.5-km Controlled Access Corridor Bund Road project. DG LDA Tahir Farooq told the chief minister: “Besides the construction of service roads, the repair and rehabilitation of a drain has also been completed. Five vehicular and four pedestrian subways have been constructed on the service road. At Babu Sabu Chowk, a green belt and park have been built after clearing encroachments on 16-kanal and 6-marla land worth more than Rs1.5 billion. A 540-metre four-lane bridge has been constructed on the Ravi River.”
“Shahdara, Kot Abdul Malik, Sheikhupura, Kala Shah Kaku, Lahore Ring Road and other adjacent localities will benefit from the Ravi Bridge project, whereas Gulshan-e-Ravi, Sanda, Chauhan Road, Saggian, Sherakot, Shafiqabad, Rasulpura, Bilal Ganj, Mian Munshi Hospital, Amin Park and other adjacent settlements will benefit from the Controlled Access Corridor Closed Road project.”
Meanwhile, Maryam, while chairing a meeting on the “Performance Index” of the Board of Revenue, said the performance of commissioners, deputy commissioners, assistant commissioners, Tehsildars and Naib Tehsildars will be determined by the key performance indicator system.
She directed authorities to introduce the KPI system in the Board of Revenue after its success in Police and Administration Departments. “The performance of judicial members, member Tax, member Colonies and member Consolidation of Board of Revenue will also be monitored. The score will be updated on the completion of timely verification of deaths at the Rural Center Mall and PLRA. The performance of the Sub-Registrar Office will also be linked to the timely verification of registry. Matters related to death and verification of land records will be included in the KPI score.” She said: “Progress on digitization of revenue records under the Pilse Project is also included in the KPIs. E-Gurdavari, monthly meetings of the District Coordination Committee, field reports in cases of death of heirs are also part of KPIs. The performance of officers will be tested through innovative measures and policy reforms for the convenience of people. Disposing of court cases will increase the KPI score. Distribution, transfer and revenue recovery will improve KPI scores of the officers concerned. The KPI system of state land management has also been set. Lease of agricultural land, consolidation fee and the State Land Directory are included in it.”
Earlier, she was briefed about the structure and service delivery of the Board of Revenue, besides the Pulse Project and revenue recovery and land management issues. She was apprised of the progress made so far on digitalization of the Board of Revenue.
Also, Maryam congratulated the position-holders of Intermediate examinations across Punjab. She also expressed grief over the demise of Saudi Princess Latifah Bint Abdul Aziz Al Saud and offered condolences to the bereaved family.
