RAHIM YAR KHAN: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) candidate Makhdoom Tahir Rashiduddin was declared successful by getting 116,429 votes in the by-elections in Constituency NA-171 Rahim Yar Khan, according to unofficial results.
His opponent, Hasan Mustafa of Pakistan Tahreek-e-Insaf (PTI), got 58,251 votes.
On Thursday, the polling process continued from 8 am to 5 pm without any break. In the constituency, a tight contest was expected between these two candidates, though four other independent candidates were also in the run.
The seat fell vacant due to the death of PTI MNA Mumtaz Mustafa. The total number of voters in this constituency is 526,973.
