LAHORE : ‘Women in Chemicals', a global community of women in the chemical industry headquartered in New York, has awarded the Woman of the Year award to Dr Tauseef Salma, a distinguished Pakistani-American Scientist.
‘Tauseef’s mission is to achieve cleaner air, everywhere—especially in Pakistan, and in all countries that need improvement in air quality—for a cleaner, brighter future,’ says an announcement made by Women in Chemicals.
Currently serving as the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) for Clean Air at Johnson Matthey (JM), Dr Salma has made remarkable strides in the chemical and industrial sectors through her innovative leadership and unwavering commitment to diversity and inclusion.
Dr Salma has 27 years of energy and manufacturing industry experience. Her primary responsibilities are to drive down transport emissions, identify and enable growth of the Clean Air business segment beyond transport sector, while improving talent development, retention, profitability and productivity through innovation. JM is a global leader in sustainable technologies catalysing the net zero transition.
One of her notable achievements includes spearheading the Women of Colour (WOC) Lived Experience series, a groundbreaking diversity initiative shortlisted for the ‘Global Diversity Initiative of the Year’ in the British Diversity Awards 2024.
Tauseef serves on various advisory boards for universities, non-profit organisations, and technology start-ups, leveraging her extensive expertise in innovation, research, and development. Her advisory roles have spanned institutions such as Rice University, the University of Houston, and the University of Trinidad and Tobago. Additionally, she has contributed to non-profits like Developments in Literacy (DIL), focusing on educating underprivileged children in rural Pakistan.
Dr Salma holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering from Rice University and BSc in Chemical Engineering from University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore.
Dr Salma is married, resides in the UK in her current role and is passionate about people and sustainability. Her purpose is to create scalable impact through service, inclusive leadership and innovation.
