LAHORE: Inspector General Police (IGP) Punjab has directed police officers for increasing security at border check posts, religious sites, sensitive installations, and for foreign nationals, including Chinese citizens, in light of the current national situation.
These directives were given during a meeting at the Central Police Office, where security situations, crime control, key performance indicators, and various policing matters were reviewed. The security plans for rallies, processions, and events on 12 Rabi-ul-Awwal were also discussed. IGP emphasised that security measures at check posts, raids and operations should include bulletproof jackets and helmets, and that safety protocols should be strictly followed.
Rs16.6bn released for cops’ welfare: The IGP released Rs16.6bn during the last eight months for the welfare of cops.
According to the IGP, more than Rs5.82bn has been released for scholarships for the children of police employees, more than Rs1.84 billion as medical grants, Rs4.17 billion as wedding gifts for daughters of cops and police martyrs, and Rs492m were released for funeral expenses of cops. Over Rs2.2bn were distributed as farewell grants upon retirement, Rs1.8 billion as maintenance allowances to the cops’ families, Rs15.5m has been allocated for construction of houses for the martyrs’ families and Rs13.5m distributed under emergency aid, offering assistance to personnel and their families.
