ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has initiated an inquiry into a what is being perceived as a threatening post uploaded from the X account of the PTI founder and former prime minister Imran Khan.
A four-member team of the FIA Cybercrime Wing is set to grill Imran at the Adiala Jail.
The inquiry revolves round a video uploaded on May 26, in which Khan’s X account reportedly stated: “Every Pakistani should study the Hamood ur Rahman Commission Report and get to know who was the true traitor, General Yahya Khan or Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.”
The post, deemed threatening by the authorities, triggered the FIA Cybercrime Wing to open an inquiry.
However, during an initial investigation, Khan refused to answer any of the FIA’s questions.
This move marks another chapter in the growing legal pressure on the former prime minister as he faces multiple investigations. The FIA is determined to move forward with the probe, and the investigation team will conduct further questioning, if necessary.
The jail sources disclosed that the PTI founder has refused to appear before the FIA Cybercrime Wing’s investigation team.
“I will participate in the investigation only in the presence of my lawyers,” the PTI founder responded.
The FIA team had specifically visited Adiala Jail to investigate a post made from the PTI founder’s social media account.
The four-member team spent more than an hour in Adiala Jail but left after the refusal.
The investigation team, led by Assistant Director Ayaz Khan, included FIA investigation and technical officers.
