ISLAMABAD: The Attorney General (AG) has informed the Islamabad High Court (IHC) that the government had no objection over the appeal in connection with release of Dr Aafia Siddiqui on compassionate grounds.
Justice Ejaz Ishaq Khan issued written order of the hearing of the case Saturday.
According to the order, the AG informed court that the government had no objection over appeal for release of Dr Aafia Siddiqui on compassionate grounds.
The AG assured that there was no reason with the government that it does not stand with appeal for release of Dr Aafia Siddiqui.
The order said the government would also separately file mercy appeal in connection with release of Dr Aafia.
As per the attorney general the matter would be discussed with the US government on the occasion of UN session, and work is in progress on the agreement for exchange of prisoners with the US, adding that three weeks were required regarding the agreement.
