ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz told parliamentarians of the government and allied parties on Saturday that in order to maintain the sanctity of parliament, legislation was needed for better national and public interest.
The prime minister invited Members of National Assembly and Senate hailing from PMLN and government’s allied parties to a dinner at the Prime Minister’s House on Saturday. Besides PMLN, the dinner was also attended by parliamentarians of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Balochistan Awami Party (BAP), National Party and PML-Zia.
The prime minister took the parliamentarians into confidence on the constitutional amendment or judicial reform which, he said, was must for continuation of economic policies.
Shehbaz Sharif, while noting that parliament is the supreme institution, said that all the national issues should be addressed in parliament.
He said the ‘Charter of Democracy’ was signed under the leadership of Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Benazir Bhutto Shaheed and the same charter closed the doors to all the constitutional measures, once and for all.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari hosted a dinner for all the parliamentarians of PPP from both the houses of parliament — Senate and National Assembly — on Saturday.
MNA Aseefa Bhutto Zardari was also present along with Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. All PPP MNAs and senators attended the dinner.
