Two held for abducting, torturing teenager

LAHORE: Gulberg police have arrested two suspects involved in the abduction and brutal torture of a teenager under the pretext of playing cricket.

The arrested suspects Bilal and Shahzaib also subjected the victim Mudasir to severe torture, including the heinous act of putting chilli powder on his sensitive parts, according to SP Model Town, Ikhlaq Ullah Tarar.

The incident began when Mudasir was lured into a cricket game and subsequently taken to Rajowal, Okara district, where the suspects tortured him by the canal and then abandoned him. The case was registered after SP Model Town personally intervened, forming a special team for the boy's recovery and the arrest of those responsible.

Acting on human intelligence, police conducted a successful operation in Gulberg, apprehending two of the suspects. Efforts are underway to arrest the remaining accomplices, Aamir and Arif, who are still at large. "No one who takes the law into their own hands will be spared," said SP Ikhlaq Ullah Tarar, stressing that justice will be done and the remaining suspects will be apprehended soon.

Injured suspect arrested after encounter: An injured criminal, who received bullet injuries, was arrested after confrontation between police and armed robbers near Bilal Gunj, Umar Park, in the Data Darbar area on Monday. The accomplice of the suspect managed to flee the scene. According to the Data Darbar police, the police officers signalled two men on a motorcycle to stop during a routine check. However, the suspects opened fire in an attempt to evade arrest. In response, the police resorted to fire in self-defence and during the firing, one of the robbers was injured by gunfire from his own accomplice. The injured suspect, identified as Jamshed alias Jeshi, was apprehended and shifted to the hospital. His accomplice escaped, and a search operation is underway to bring him to justice. Jamshed, is reportedly involved in over 11 armed robberies, street snatching incidents, and drug dealing across the city.

He had previously opened fire on police on multiple occasions. During the arrest, law enforcement seized weapons, 14 stolen mobile phones, and two kilograms of hashish from his possession. An FIR was lodged and further investigations are ongoing, according to SHO Data Darbar Shehryar.
