With polio cases on the rise once again, the government has intensified its vaccination efforts. Along with the resurgence of the virus itself, attacks on polio workers also seem to have increased. Reports say that 17 health workers have been killed so far. Since 2012, 126 people have been killed, and 201 injured in attacks targeting polio workers and the attackers in these cases are rarely apprehended and brought to justice. Misconceptions about the polio vaccine continue to persist, leading many parents to refuse to vaccinate their children. It is crucial to protect and support polio workers, who risk their lives to carry out their duties, and essential to counter the misleading myths surrounding polio. We must collectively work towards eradicating polio to ensure a healthier future for our nation.
