October is designated as breast cancer awareness month. The medical experts are of view that the disease is curable on a low budget if recognized at the earliest stages. If not diagnosed at the initial stages, the treatment will be less effective and more expensive. Going by the reports, no less than 83000 cases are being recorded per annum. This is an alarming situation. It goes without saying that not taking the disease seriously could exacerbate the problem.
To avoid the risk of breast cancer, women of all ages should go for check-ups regularly. Meanwhile, the public health department needs to better address this problem. We also need to put-in coordinated efforts to raise awareness about this issue.
