LAHORE: The Pakistan-China Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCJCCI) has strongly condemned a terrorist attack on a Chinese convoy near Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport on Sunday night.
The attack resulted in the deaths of two Chinese citizens and left another injured. Around 15 other people sustained injuries, and at least eight vehicles were damaged.Nazir Hussain, president of the PCJCCI, expressed deep condolences to the innocent victims from both countries and extended sincere sympathies to the injured and their families. He emphasized that this deplorable act of terrorism is an attack not only on Pakistan but also on the enduring friendship between Pakistan and China.
“No one can undermine the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), which has undeniably brought numerous benefits to Pakistan’s economy. This initiative has led to the construction of highways, ports, and energy infrastructure, improving transportation and energy efficiency. CPEC has strengthened bilateral ties between China and Pakistan, fostering a strategic cooperative partnership,” Hussain said.
Brig (r) Mansoor Saeed Sheikh, senior vice president of the PCJCCI, said that Pakistan reaffirms its unwavering commitment to the safety and security of Chinese nationals, projects, and institutions within the country. He added that Pakistan will continue to work hand in hand with its Chinese partners to combat the forces of terror.
Zafar Iqbal, vice president of the PCJCCI, mentioned that the government is fully mobilized to swiftly identify the individuals responsible for this incident. “The protection of the lives and property of our Chinese brothers in Pakistan is our top priority,” he affirmed.
The PCJCCI expressed confidence in the government of Pakistan to conduct effective investigations, swiftly identify the responsible terrorists, and ensure that they are brought to justice promptly.
