ISLAMABAD: The Federal Ministry of Petroleum has decided on gas load management for winter, according to which CNG stations will be closed across the country during December and January.
In these two months, the gas supply to the country’s industry, which generates electricity from gas, will be stopped. This decision was taken to ensure a continuous supply of natural gas to domestic consumers during winter.
Sui Northern Gas Company Limited has been directed to issue orders to keep CNG stations closed from December 1, 2024 to January 31, 2025. In this way, in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and other provinces where the industry has captive power stations, the gas supply will be stopped.
In the meeting presided over by Minister for Petroleum Musadik Malik, it was decided that since the production of natural gas is facing a five percent decrease on an annual basis, therefore, gas load management will be done. Although, gas is being produced in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province like Sindh, it has been decided to keep the CNG stations in both provinces shut during the first two winter months.
