LAHORE : Hearing in a case of financial embezzlement in Dr Abdul Qadir Khan Trust Hospital was held in the Sessions Court here on Thursday.
The court rejected the bail of former hospital secretary Shaukat Babar Virk and finance secretary Muhammad Sohail.
The investigating officer of FIA took both the accused into custody on the spot. Additional Sessions Judge Salman Ghumman held the hearing as Raja Nadeem, the lawyer of Dr Dina Khan, argued that the accused embezzled crores of rupees by making fake documents of Dr AQ Khan Trust.
A case of forgery and anti-money laundering has been registered against the accused. The accused was produced before the court for physical remand. The judicial magistrate had discharged the accused from the case instead of granting his physical remand.
The lawyer requested the court to annul the decision of the judicial magistrate. The lawyer of the accused requested the judge to sanction his client's interim bail. He said that the allegations against the accused are baseless, therefore the court should grant the bail.
