PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Thursday dismissed the appeal of a convict sentenced to death for three times and upheld the lower court’s decision.
A two-member bench of the PHC comprising Justice Shakeel Ahmad and Justice Sahibzada Asadullah heard the appeal filed by one Abdullah, against his sentence. During the hearing, the defendant’s lawyer Nauman Khan Kundi informed the court that defendant Abdullah had killed two women and a child inside a house on October 18, 2021, and he had then fled the scene.
However, the police later apprehended the defendant during the investigation and included him in the case. A case was registered against the defendant at the Mathra Police Station and after completing the investigation, the police submitted a charge sheet against the defendant in the court.
The lower court during the trial, he pleaded, found the defendant guilty and sentenced him to death three times. Therefore, this decision should be upheld. The defendant’s lawyer argued that there was insufficient evidence against his client, so the sentence should be annulled. After hearing arguments, the court dismissed the appeal and upheld the death sentence for three times awarded to the defendant by the lower court.
