LAHORE: Lahore Organised Crime Unit has arrested a woman named Sarah Khan for allegedly spreading false information about a supposed assault and death of a female student at a private college in Lahore.
The accused claimed to be the mother of the student in a video that circulated widely on social media, calling for public support to spread the story. The incident prompted swift action from the Punjab government, which formed a five-member Joint Investigation Team (JIT) under the supervision of SP Aftab Ahmed Phulrwan to investigate the matter.
Acting on the directives of DIG Organised Crime Unit Imran Kishwar, DSP Chaudhry Faisal Sharif and his team apprehended the woman. The accused now faces charges under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) and has been booked in an FIR registered at Gulberg police station.
