ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Yahya Afridi on Thursday approved the appointment of two officials of the Supreme Court at his office. According to a notification issued here by the Supreme Court, the CJP approved the appointment of Muhammad Yasin, senior private secretary as his secretary against an upgraded post personal to him, in BPS-21, plus other usual allowances as may be admissible to his class of servants under the federal government and Supreme Court of Pakistan from time to time, with effect from October 26, 2024. He will be governed by the Supreme Court Establishment Services Rules 2015.
Meanwhile, according to another notification, Arif Mehmood, senior private secretary (BPS-19) of the apex court has been appointed as Executive Officer to Chief Justice (BPS-20) with effect from October 26, 2024. He will be entitled to draw the benefits of pay and allowances of BPS-20 till the date he continues/ performs duties as such subject to fulfilment of the following conditions:
a) The pay of the higher post will be fixed presumptively with effect from the date the officer assumed charge of the higher post.
b) On relinquishment of charge of the higher post or on transfer or on regular promotion to that higher post, the pay will be re-fixed with reference to original scale of pay (BPS-19) of the post held by the officer and number of increments carried (if any) on higher post will count for increments as per his original scale (BPS-19) in terms of provisions of FR-26.
c) Pay shall be fixed without allowing premature increment.
d) The pay of the higher post shall not be accounted for the calculation of emoluments towards the pension.
