Officers reshuffled

LAHORE: The Punjab government has reshuffled following officers on Friday. According to the notification, Secretary Mines and Minerals, Babar Aman Babar, has been removed from his position and directed to report to the Services and General Administration Department (S&GAD).

It may be recalled that Babar Aman was suspended by the Speaker of the Punjab Assembly following hue and cry in Punjab Assembly Session regarding poor performance of Babar Aman. For the first time, the PA Speaker has suspended a civil service officer. Meanwhile, Director General of Sports and Youth Affairs, Parvez Iqbal, has been appointed as Secretary of Mines and Minerals. Director General of Commodity and Price Control, Khizar Afzal, has been appointed as DG of Sports and Youth Affairs. Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) Imran Qureshi has been appointed as the Director General of Commodity and Price Control. The Punjab Department has also changed the DG of Excise Punjab after a few days. DG Excise, Farrukh Atiq, has been appointed as Director General of the Punjab Enforcement Authority.

Umar Sharif Chattha has been appointed as the Director General of the Punjab Excise and Taxation Department. Additional Secretary of the Home Department, Ahmed Usman, has been appointed as Deputy Commissioner of Okara.

Health scheme: In its 42nd meeting of the fiscal year 2024-25, the Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) approved one development scheme amounting to Rs9.954 billion, under the chairmanship of Chairman P&D Board Barrister Nabeel Ahmad Awan. The approved scheme includes Establishment of Mother & Child Block in Sir Ganga Ram Hospital at the cost of Rs9.954 billion.The meeting was attended by Secretary P&D Board Dr Asif Tufail, Chief Economist Mr Masood Anwar, members of the P&D Board and other senior officials.
