KARACHI: Pakistan’s top-order batsman Sahibzada Farhan has expressed his eagerness to play as an opener in the T20I series against Australia. He believes this role would allow him to perform at his best.
Talking to the media at the training camp ahead of the T20 series against Australia, Farhan said, “I have been playing as an opener in domestic cricket and the PSL for several years. I think it would be beneficial for me to get a proper chance at my preferred position. Discussions about the batting order haven’t happened yet, so we’ll find out the plan once we get to Australia.”
Farhan emphasised his availability to contribute across formats. “I’m available to play in both T20 and red-ball cricket. I’ve performed well domestically and am doing well in all formats, so I’m ready to step in wherever there is a need,” he added.
When asked about the importance of being prepared for various formats, Farhan stated, “Every player must be ready for any format and tournament—whether it’s Tests, ODIs, or T20s. I hope to make the most of this T20 opportunity.”
He also pointed out the significance of adapting to different playing conditions. “As professionals, we need to be ready to play under all circumstances. We recently toured Australia with the Shaheens, where we played in all formats. It was a valuable learning experience that will help us in the upcoming series,” he said.
Regarding the ongoing training camp in Karachi, Farhan acknowledged the limitations of their time for practice.
