ISLAMABAD: Muhammad Irtaza Hussain carded yet another impressive round of two under 69 on the second day to retain his lead going into the final round Sunday in the 17th CNS Golf at the Margalla Greens Course.
Irtaza who was enjoying a two-stroke cushion going into the second round Saturday, extended it to three firing six birdies and losing a stroke each on four holes to get a second-round score of two under 69. Following a score of par on the front, he started the back nine with a birdie and then added four more on the last five to make up for his bogies.
Irtaza has an aggregate score of six under 136 on the 71-par course of Margalla Greens.
Ahmad Zafar Hayat is three strokes behind going into the final round. He carded one under 70 for the second round to get an aggregate of three under 139 for two rounds.
All other golfers continue to get a score of over par in aggregate with Inamul Haq and Shahid Masood finishing the second day with four over 145 in aggregate. Both got par 71 each on the second day.
Muhammad Yasir Khokhar who had a good first round messed it up on Saturday carding ten over 81 to go out of reckoning. Back-to-back double bogies on the seventh and eighth holes sunk his chances of finishing near the top.
