ISLAMABAD: Pakistan overpowered South Africa by 17 runs to check into the semi-finals of Hong Kong Sixes in Hong Kong.
In Saturday’s quarter-finals, batting first, Pakistan managed to score 105/3 in 6 overs. Muhammad Akhlaq notched up a fifty before retiring while Hussain Talat remained not out at 27 off 11.
Pakistan bowlers did a phenomenal job by restricting the Protease to 88/4. Hussain Talat picked up two wickets while Shahab Khan and Aamer Yamin scalped one each.
Pakistan will now take on Australia in the semi-finals on Sunday (today).
Australia, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka also booked a place each in the semi-finals.
In other quarter-finals, Sri Lanka outplayed Nepal by 40 runs and Bangladesh defeated the UAE who were 18 runs behind the par score when the match had to be stopped because of bad lights.
