Embassy celebrates German reunification

Islamabad : The German Embassy hosted a reception here to celebrate German Unity Day, marking the historic reunification of East and West Germany in 1990.

The day signifies the end of 41 years of division and the formation of a united German nation. During the event, German Ambassador Alfred Grannas underscored the significance of reunification and reflecting on Germany’s remarkable achievements since that pivotal moment. He said German Unity Day was not only a celebration of Germany's past but also a reminder of the strength the nation draw from its unity.

The reception brought together representatives from German businesses, foundations, and organisations operating in Pakistan, as well as dignitaries and officials from diplomatic, military, political, economic, humanitarian and other sectors. The ambassador thanked participants for make the celebrations of German Unity Day a memorable occasion.

Meanwhile, the celebrations of German Unity Day featured a performance by a group of young Pakistani musicians. The ambassador appreciated the Soz-o-Saz musical band's impressive skills, recalling its last year performance, and noted that its participation greatly enriched the event. Anil Azam of the band expressed enthusiasm for performing at the celebrations. “We’re thrilled to be part of this special occasion”, he said, adding that his group focuses on instrumental music and promotes cultural exchange through a fusion of Western and Eastern instruments.
