Islamabad : The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has claimed that the recent launch of its new licensing portal has resulted in speedy certificate processing and issuance.

According to PMDC President Prof Rizwan Taj, 73,361 out of 75,279 cases filed in the recent months for medical and dental certifications have been disposed of. The cases involve changes in data and licences, extension of provisional certificates, full registration certificates, good standing certificates, provisional licences, licences for foreign graduates, licence renewals, and registration of postgraduate qualifications.

He said the PMDC was committed to enhancing its services for the medical and dental community. "The portal’s user-friendly interface and streamlined back-end processing have led to quicker turnaround times and greater accessibility for medical professionals," he said.

Prof Taj said the PMDC had streamlined the recognition of teaching experience for medical professionals through a portal, which greatly reduced the time required for medical professionals to receive formal recognition of their teaching experience. He said reforms had also been implemented for speedy verification and approval of medical faculty's teaching experience.

The PMDC president also disclosed that the introduction of the enterprise resource planning system was on the cards to fully automate in-house secretariat functions of the organisation. “This initiative will streamline workflows, improve efficiency, and enhance the Council’s capacity to address emerging challenges through cutting-edge technology,” he said. Prof Taj said the PMDC was committed to automating and integrating the latest technology to ensure smoother, more efficient service delivery for the medical community.
