PARACHINAR: All educational institutions have reopened after a week-long closure, while 216 trucks carrying food supplies, fuel, and medicines reached Parachinar.
Deputy Commissioner Javedullah Mehsud said peace had been restored across the Kurram tribal district. He said the local elders were cooperating with the district administration to maintain order.
It may be recalled that the Parachinar-Peshawar Road had been closed following the firing on passenger vehicles on October 12. However, the road has been reopened, allowing 216 vehicles carrying essential goods and passengers to reach Parachinar.
Private Education Network Chairman Muhammad Hayat Khan said the fuel shortage due to route closures had forced schools to close for a week, but classes have resumed. Social worker Imran Maqbal said that road closures had caused significant challenges for residents of Boshehra, Maqbal, Tari Mangal, and other villages near the Pak-Afghan border.
Member of National Assembly (MNA) Hamid Hussain urged authorities to fully open the Parachinar-Peshawar highway and ensure safe passage. He said the local people were facing a shortage of food items and medicines due to road closure. Meanwhile, the week-long protest sit-in at Parachinar’s main square was called off.
