LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is reportedly set to undergo another significant restructuring as it considers the creation of a new Managing Director (MD) role for current Chief Operating Officer (COO) Salman Naseer.

With Salman expected to transition into this role, which will likely be focused on the Pakistan Super League (PSL), changes are anticipated in PCB’s executive lineup.

Sources indicate that Salman, who has steadily risen through the ranks, overseeing all departmental directors, may now be reassigned to head the PSL. This new MD position would allow him to retain direct oversight of PSL operations, reporting directly to PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, rather than taking orders from the new COO.

Syed Sumair Ahmed, former Deputy Commissioner Lahore currently serving in the Prime Minister’s House, is set to join PCB on deputation as the new COO.

The potential move has sparked discussions among PSL franchises, particularly regarding Usman Wahla, PCB’s current Director of International Cricket, who may join Salman as PSL Director. Mohsin Naqvi’s tenure as PCB Chairman has already seen several notable shifts within PCB’s hierarchy as he aims to implement his vision for a stronger, more efficient administration.
