A fire broke out at a shop in the Chanti Lane of Boulton Market on Tuesday.
Fire tenders were dispatched to the scene, with one initial unit followed by three more due to the intensity of the blaze. According to a fire brigade spokesperson, the fire began in a cosmetics shop but quickly spread to two or three neighbouring shops.
One person was reported injured and significant property damage, amounting to hundreds of thousands of rupees, occurred.
The spokesperson noted that the fire was believed to have been caused by a short circuit, though the exact cause was still under investigation.
