KARACHI: Pakistan’s Sufyan Khan has won the International Hockey Federation (FIH) Rising Star of the Year award.
The International Hockey Federation (FIH) has announced the winners of the FIH Hockey Stars Awards at the FIH Centennial Gala in Muscat, Oman, on the occasion of the 49th FIH Statutory Congress.
Sufyan was the lone Pakistani among the 30 nominees. Bannu-born Sufyan, who has been representing Pakistan since 2022, is yet another product of the country’s bespoke hockey nursery, Dar Hockey Academy.
Sufyan honed his skills at the Dar Academy in Lahore from 2020 to 2022, when he won his first national selection.
There were five nominations in each category for players men and women: FIH Best Player, FIH Best Goalkeeper, and FIH Rising Star of the Year awards.
