Islamabad : The Floral Art Society of Pakistan (FASP), Magnolia Chapter Islamabad held its monthly meeting in Serena Hotel. The event started with recitation by Hina Kamran, while Yasmeen Salman welcomed special guests visiting Pakistan, Christine Saunders and Pauline Jane who are members of the Walthamstow Floral Arts Society based in the UK, which comes under the London and overseas area of NAFAS.
For their information, Yasmeen Salman gave a brief introduction of FASP and showcased the highlights of the National Show held last month, accompanied by a media presentation.
President FAS Magnolia, Wiqarunnisa Boolani, an ace floral artist and an acknowledged judge of floral art, demonstrated the interesting topic, ‘Artist creativity’. She had created six large arrangements and spoke in detail how each one was created. Different techniques were introduced like weaving with paper and with vines; bundling and grouping of vegetables and flowers using a horizontal base and then balancing it with parallel vertical lines and AC pipes were recycled, leading to the creation of a great floral art piece. After this, the international guests were presented with traditional embroidered shawls and visibly moved, they thanked everyone for their hospitality. Keeping the tradition alive, birthday girls of the month were given gifts and the meeting came to an end with refreshments and chit-chat.
