Islamabad: President of the National Labour Federation (NLF), Shamsur Rehman Swati has welcomed the conduct of National Tripartite Conference by the government after a long gap of 15 years.
The NLF president during the conference and thanked Federal Minister for Overseas and Human Resource, Chaudhry Salik Hussain for holding collaboration between the unions leaders, employers and the government. He also lauded efforts of Federal Secretary, Dr. Arshad Mahmood for organising the conference, which he observed should be held every year.
Swati noted that real issued was implementation on laws relating to social and economic protection of workers and their proper registration by employers so that they can receive all the benefits.
Meanwhile, addressing the tripartite conference Chaudhry Salik Hussain said that the health and safety of workers was the prime responsibility of the government. He said that workers play an important role in the development of the country and contribute a major share to the economy. “We are working to bring such an environment that would eliminate the hurdles in the life of workers”, he added.
He said that Pakistan ranked better on the list of countries that provide health and safety to workers due to the efforts of the government. He said that the first Occupational Safety and Health Profile was opened in Pakistan to monitor the health and other concerns of workers.
