DERA ISMAIL KHAN: The Cantt police registered a case against Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUIF) tehsil chief and ex-provincial assembly candidate Kafil Ahmad Nizami and his relatives and employees for making and displaying fake banners of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sardar Ali Amin Gandapur during the general elections 2024.
The case was registered on a complaint filed by Umar Amin Gandapur, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) City Mayor in Dera Ismail Khan and brother of Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur. The complaint said that on February 7, 2024, one day before the general elections, fake banners were displayed and posted at various locations in Dera Ismail Khan in support of Ali Amin Gandapur, who was an independent candidate for the provincial assembly at the time.
The complaint was lodged by Umar Amin Gandapur with the Cantt police against Kafil Ahmad Nizami, his secretary Nauman, employee Tanveer, relative Usman Rajput, the resident of Mohallah Hazrat Bilal, Chhota Bazaar, Muhammad Amir and Tauqeer Ahmad, residents of Muzaffargarh, along with other relatives of JUIF leader.
On the night of February 7, 2024, several persons were caught red-handed while displaying fake election banners for Ali Amin Gandapur, the PTI candidate for the National Assembly (NA-44), and for provincial assembly constituencies PK-112 and PK-113.
One of the suspects among those caught red-handed, Usman from Chhota Bazaar, had confessed that he and his associates were displaying these fake banners on the instructions of Kafil Ahmad Nizami in order to mislead the public.
Following the incident, Umar Amin Gandapur filed a complaint with the Cantt police against the accused. The police registered a case under sections 419, 420, 468, 471, Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) against Kafil Ahmad Nizami and others. The case was registered nine months after the incident.
It may be mentioned that Kafil Ahmad Nizami had filed a petition with the Election Tribunal regarding the concealment of assets by the KP chief minister during the elections February 8, 2024.
Sources close to Kafil Ahmad Nizami’s family, he was pressured to withdraw this case, but he refused to do so. Following his refusal, the local police registered a case against Kafil Ahmad Nizami and his associates on the complaint of Umar Amin Gandapur.
