ISLAMABAD: Under the right-sizing policy, Secretary of Ministry of Communications Tuesday approved abolition of 1,004 posts of Pakistan Post Office, while Ministry of Economic Affairs dismissed 19 temporary employees.
Director General Posts had recommended Federal Secretary to abolish these posts. The Secretary, as National Accounting Officer, approved abolition of these posts. Accountant General Pakistan Revenue (AGPR) has been informed through a letter about the approval to abolish the posts.
The abolished posts from Grade-1 to Grade-14 include postman, assistant postmaster, assistant chief postmaster, supervisor, postal clerk, head postman, town inspector, delivery agent, cash overseer, drivers, mail guards, porters, packers and runners etc.
The employees dismissed by Ministry of Economic Affairs include three DMOs Umber Bashir, Abdullah Khalid and Shah Hazib; four drivers Asad Naseer, Atif Shaheen, Muhammad Zahad and Hamza Aziz; eleven naib qasids Gul Khattab, Wajid Fareed, Muhammad Shakeel, Owais Hussain, Salamat Ali, Abdul Rahim Baig, Aftab Ahmed, Sufyan Masih, Aamir Ali, Hafeez Bashir and Hafeez Jahangir and aya Miss Ruqia Bibi. The Federal Cabinet had decided on August 27, 2024 to reduce administrative expenses of government and all the ministries and departments were directed to eliminate 60 percent of their vacant posts.
