Ms. Sadia Rashid, President Hamdard Foundation Pakistan and the Pakistan Historical Society (PHS), has appointed Professor Dr. Syed Jaffar Ahmed, a distinguished expert in social sciences, as the general secretary of the society, following the recommendation from the PHS Executive Committee.
Dr. Syed Jaffar Ahmed brings extensive experience in education, teaching, and research, having served as the Director of the Pakistan Study Centre at the University of Karachi for 18 years. He currently holds the position of director at the Institute of Historical and Social Research and serves as the dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences at Sohail University, Karachi.
The Pakistan Historical Society is a research organization established in 1950 by history researchers to promote and advance research on various aspects of the national history of Pakistan. The founder of Hamdard Pakistan, Shaheed Hakim Mohammed Said, accepted the patronage of the society in 1978. Since 1953, the society has been publishing ‘Historicus’ a quarterly peer-reviewed journal featuring scholarly research papers on history.
