ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) will announce its reserved decisions on December 3 regarding pleas seeking changes to election tribunals in Islamabad.
In this regard, the ECP has issued a revised cause list.
Three National Assembly members from Islamabad, affiliated with the PMLN, had filed petitions requesting changes to election tribunals and addressing the submission of an election plea within the stipulated 45-day period.
PMLN members Anjum Aqeel Khan and Raja Khurram Nawaz had filed petitions under Section 151 of the Elections Act, 2017, while Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry had moved the ECP under Section 142 of the same act.
The petitions were connected to the PTI’s Aamir Masood Mughal, Shoaib Shaheen, and Syed Muhammad Ali Bokhari, who were defeated by PMLN candidates in the February 8 general elections.
“It is circulated for the information of the general public and litigants that the following cases fixed for the announcement of order before the honourable Election Commission of Pakistan will not be announced on November 29, 2024. The orders will be announced on December 03, 2024, at 01pm,” the ECP notice states.
Previously, the ECP had scheduled the announcement of its orders on November 29, as per an earlier cause list. However, no reason has been provided for the revision.
Additionally, the ECP will resume hearings on December 4 in the case concerning the intra-party elections of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). Notices have been issued to PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan and Raoof Hasan, requiring them to submit relevant documents to the commission.
The ECP is also set to examine the consolidated statement of accounts of the PTI for the financial year 2023-24. Barrister Gohar and former secretary general Omar Ayub Khan have been summoned for this purpose on December 4.
