KARACHI: Sindh government has approved the funds for the National Games in Karachi, The News learnt on Thursday.
Informed sources connected to the development told this scribe that an appropriate amount of funds has been approved for the National Games and would be released in December. Sources said that the schedule of National Games could be changed and it might be organised after Ramadan which is in March.
Sources said that organising the National Games and entertaining more than 7000 athletes of various disciplines at different venues would be a herculean task. Therefore, it is possible that the National Games will be held after Ramadan.
It has to be mentioned that Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) has the authority to give the dates and schedule of National Games, as its officials visit the venues where the events are to be organised.
Sources mentioned that provincial sports minister Sardar Muhammad Baksh Khan Mehar has said that National Games would be held in Karachi in a befitting manner. Sources said that an important meeting of Sindh government was held a couple of days ago and funds for the National Games were discussed in detail and approved.
