Prisoner dies in hospital

LAHORE : A prisoner of Camp Jail died in hospital due to illness on Sunday.

Ghulam Murtaza was under arrest in connection with a motorcycle theft case registered in the Shadman area. According to the jail officials, Ghulam Murtaza's health deteriorated suddenly, prompting his transfer to Services Hospital. Despite efforts made by the medical staff, he could not survive. The deceased's body was shifted to the morgue.

10 suspects arrested

Police arrested 10 criminals from various parts of the City.

Lorri Adda police arrested four drug pushers and recovered 11.8 kilogram hashish from them. Johar Town and Gul Dasht Town police arrested three drug peddlers and recovered over 3kg hashish. Sattu Katla Police arrested a suspect and recovered 100 litre liquor. New Anarkali police arrested two thieves and recovered three stolen motorcycles and a rickshaw from them. Meanwhile, police conducted over 107,000 raids on hideouts of drug pushers across the province this year.

A total of 62,268 accused involved in the heinous trade of narcotics were arrested, and 54,811 cases were registered against them. Additionally, 1,269 drug addicts were admitted to rehabilitation centres for treatment. Regarding ongoing operations in the provincial capital, 9,392 raids were conducted on drug dealers' hideouts this year. As a result, 9,699 accused were arrested, and 9,391 cases were registered.
