EDINBURGH: Hibernian midfielder Nicky Cadden insists there are positives to take from Saturday’s 3-0 defeat at runaway leaders Celtic where the Easter Road side were punished for their profligacy.

Arne Engels’ early opener, a second-half own goal by Hibs skipper Joe Newell along with a cool late strike by Celtic substitute Kyogo Furuhashi kept the points in the east end of Glasgow.

However, that did not tell the whole story of an afternoon where home goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel was named man of the match as David Gray’s men created several chances but were unable to take them as they finished the day back at the bottom of the William Hill Premiership.

Cadden told HibsTV: “It is a hard one to take. We created some very good chances, so to come away from the game without even scoring a goal is annoying for us.

“Their goalkeeper got man of the match, so I think that says a lot about our performance.

“They had a few chances and they took three of them. We had nine shots on target but unfortunately, we weren’t able to score any. “We are confident it will come, it isn’t something to worry about – we just need to build on that performance.

“We need to take the positives but also look at the manner of the goals we conceded.

“At the end of the day, we can’t concede goals like that.

“But we are creating chances, against the best team in the league. “It is tough to take when you play so well and come away with nothing – but we need to be more clinical and make sure we are scoring goals.”
