ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Religious Affairs received over 79,000 Haj applications against a quota of 89,605 seats and all the applicants have been declared successful for the upcoming Haj under the Government Scheme.
This was stated by the Spokesperson Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Muhammad Umar Butt in a statement on Tuesday.
The Ministry had given a seven-day extension in receiving Haj applications till December 10. The spokesman said the Ministry will continue receiving Haj applications to fill the remaining Haj quota on a first-come, first-serve basis. He said the sponsorship Haj Scheme will too continue on first-come, first-basis.
The process of receiving Haj applications will be concluded as soon as the quota is completed.
He said 10,000 fresh applications were received during the one-week extension. The Ministry of Religious Affairs has also advised the intending pilgrims to obtain computerised receipts from the designated banks after submitting their applications.
