LAHORE:Punjab Home Secretary Noorul Amin Mengal has suspended Deputy Superintendent of the Executive Borstal Institution Bahawalpur Yasir Ijaz over negligence, incompetence and poor performance in the discharge of his duties.
According to the Punjab Home Department spokesperson, Yasir Ijaz violated the rules and regulations of the Borstal Institution. A notification issued by the department stated that Deputy Superintendent Judicial Mukhtar Ahmad of Central Jail Bahawalpur has been given additional charge as Deputy Superintendent Executive Juvenile, Bahawalpur.
Similarly, former Superintendent of Faisalabad Jail Noor Hassan Bhageela was issued a show-cause notice over power abuse, corruption, and incompetence. The notice followed an inquiry conducted by DIG Prisons Sahiwal Region Shaukat Feroze into allegations against Bhageela.
It is worth noting that the Punjab Home Department, under the directives of Home Secretary Noorul Amin Mengal, has formed a high-level team led by Additional Secretary Prisons to inspect prisons across the province. This team recommended the suspension of Yasir Ijaz for violating regulations at Bahawalpur Borstal Jail. Previously, the Home Department had issued detailed SOPs for Borstal Institutions.
