Sukkur police recover large consignment of weapons

SUKKUR: Ghotki Police seized a large consignment of weapons worth millions of rupees from two members of inter-provincial weapon smugglers.

SSP Ghotki Dr Samiullah Soomro said the Ghotki police foiled the major plan to supply weapons to the robber gangs of Sindh and Punjab in the riverine areas. He said DIG Sukkur Range Captain (retd) Faisal Abdullah Chachar, Obaro Police was tipped off by the federal civilian intelligence agency regarding the smuggling of a large consignment of weapons.

SSP Soomro said that SHO Police Station Obaro Muhammad Ramzan Mallah and In-charge Chowki Kammu Shaheed Shahid Hussain Kalhoro, IT team of the District Police intercepted a Suzuki pickup number FDS/1965 and recovered 01 x M-20 75mm, recoilless rifle, 08 x 75 mm high explosive anti-tank rounds, 01 x 80 mm mortar, 01 x mortar scope, 02 x 80 mm mortar rounds,04 x RPG Rounds, 06 x Grenades, 02 x SMG drum magazines, 01 x 12.7 rounds chain, in addition to more than (2,750) rounds of Kalashnikov. The arrested suspects were identified as Muhammad Sohail and Quratul Ain. They informed the police that the weapons were purchased from Afghanistan and were meant to be delivered to the robber gangs of Sindh and Punjab including Mazari, Badani, Kosh, Idhar and Shar.

A case has been registered against the accused at Obaro police station.
