The dowry system is a deep-rooted problem that puts a heavy financial load on the bride’s family and treats women as burdens. It often opens the door to harassment, domestic violence, and even tragic dowry deaths. Despite being against the law, it continues due to societal norms and weak enforcement.
To tackle this issue, we need stricter laws, awareness campaigns about its harms, and to empower women through education and jobs. Communities should lead by example, celebrating weddings without dowry. It is time to break the chain, treat women with respect, and build a fair and equal society for everyone.
