LAHORE:Police have arrested more than 50 lawyers involved in aerial firing following their victory in the annual elections of the Lahore Bar Association (LBA).
The incident took place in the Mozang area, where the firing led to chaos and concerns for public safety. Police registered a case. Among those named in the FIR were Saleem, Khizer Hayat, Sheharyar, Zahid, Rizwan, and Sufiyan. Many of them were released after providing surety bonds.
Over 2,800 criminals held across province
Punjab Police arrested over 2,800 wanted criminals across the province, including Lahore, in the first 11 days of 2025. In Lahore alone, over 300 wanted criminals were apprehended, including more than 160 court absconders and 75 habitual offenders. Last year, Punjab Police arrested over 140,000 criminals, including 67,825 court absconders and 36,491 target offenders.
Man commits suicide
A 30-year-old youth committed suicide by shooting himself in the head in the limits of Shahdara police on Sunday. The victim was identified as Muhammad Bilal, a resident of Miraj Park Shahdara. Police shifted the body to the morgue.
