Islamabad: A policeman, Zubair Shah (1694/C), was martyred on Sunday when three armed men opened fire on him while he was on Traffic duty at Traffic Police Headquarters.
According to ASI of Police Station I-9, the assailants arrived on a motorcycle and attempted to breach security at the headquarters. Zubair Shah, fulfilling his duty, confronted the attackers but was fatally shot during the encounter. In a swift response, traffic police personnel managed to apprehend one of the suspects involved in the attack. However, the other two attackers managed to escape the scene.
Zubair Shah was immediately shifted to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), where his martyrdom was confirmed. The apprehended suspect has been transferred to Police Station I-9 for further investigation.
Authorities have launched a search operation to hunt down the remaining two attackers and are working to uncover the motive behind the attack. The police have vowed to bring the culprits to justice and expressed condolences over the loss of Zubair Shah, who sacrificed his life in the line of duty.
