ISLAMABAD: A local court on Monday rejected Bushra Bibi’s interim bail in three cases filed on November 26 but extended her interim bail in one caseAdditional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Afzal Majuka presided over the hearing of the pre-arrest bail applications in the three cases. Prosecutor Iqbal Koktar and Bushra Bibi’s lawyer Khalid Yousuf Chaudhry appeared before the court.
During the proceedings, Khalid Yousuf Chaudhry submitted an exemption application on behalf of Bushra Bibi. However, prosecutor Koktar objected, saying that Bushra Bibi had not even submitted her bail bonds. Judge Majuka echoed the prosecutor’s objection, remarking, “She has not yet submitted her bail bonds.” In his arguments, Khalid Yousuf Chaudhry said that the £190 million reference indicated Bushra Bibi’s transfer to Adiala Jail was necessary. Judge Majuka responded firmly, saying, “You are not implementing the court’s order.
Your three interim bail applications are rejected.” Separately, Additional District and Sessions Judge Chaudhry Aamir Zia heard another interim bail application filed on Bushra Bibi’s behalf. In this case, her lawyer Ansar Kayani argued that Bushra Bibi’s presence in jail was essential as part of the proceedings linked to the £190 million reference. The prosecutor countered, asserting that the interim bail application aimed to ensure the accused’s presence under court orders. After reserving its decision, Judge Chaudhry Aamir Zia later exempted Bushra Bibi from attendance and extended her interim bail. The court adjourned the hearing until January 23.
