ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Rawalpindi has launched a thorough investigation into the management of a private housing project, promptly freezing the accounts of key figures associated with the project, The News has learnt here on Monday.
The decisive action came as the Accountability Court in Rawalpindi directed NAB to file a reference against the management within a month. According to NAB sources, the investigation accuses three individuals of serious allegations of defrauding the public. They are accused of embezzling billions of rupees not only through the project in question but also through two other illegal housing schemes. Many individuals who invested in these schemes have reported being deprived of their hard-earned savings, as they have yet to receive possession of developed plots or any compensation, despite numerous promises made by the management.
NAB has taken significant measures by freezing all assets belonging to the accused to secure the potential recovery of the funds. However, the three accused remain at large, reportedly evading legal proceedings. During the court proceedings, the Director General of NAB (Rawalpindi) appeared to confirm compliance with the court’s orders. As the investigation progresses, both victims and the public keenly await the outcome that will hold the accused accountable for their actions.
