KARACHI: The Sindh Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) has approved five development schemes worth Rs1.58 billion during a meeting held at the planning and development department. The meeting, presided over by Planning and Development Board Chairperson Najam Ahmed Shah, sanctioned projects across health and local government sectors, including mega projects for Karachi.
Three of the approved schemes belong to the health sector. These include the strengthening and improvement of a 50-bed hospital in Azam Basti, Jamshed Town, Karachi, at a cost of Rs212.896 million. Another significant project is the establishment of nursing and paramedical institutes at Prem Nagar, Islamkot, with an allocation of Rs698.039 million. Additionally, Rs122.658 million has been approved for the strengthening and improvement of the Sindh government’s 36-bed hospital in Taiser Town, District West, Karachi.
Two schemes in the local government and housing town planning department focus on urban infrastructure improvements. Around Rs299.916 million has been allocated for the construction and rehabilitation of main roads and street paver blocks in Sachal Goth, District East, Karachi. Another Rs246.51 million has been set aside for the repair and rehabilitation of the existing drainage and sewerage system in Manzoor Colony, District East, Karachi.
Najam Ahmed Shah emphasised the importance of timely completion of these schemes to ensure they benefit the people. He directed all administrative secretaries to expedite work on the projects to meet their objectives effectively.
